Work was primarily focussed on developing and proving an enterprise middleware solution replacement acting as systems integrator and local support for a global service provider.Projects in this period which included the following: Design, build, and support implementation of a standard Systems Development Lifecycle methodology integrated with PRINCE2® and the existing SA Health governance processes for the ICT PMO. Strategic partnering with InterSystems to develop and test a Health Integration Broker middleware solution prototype including development of high level design and performance specifications to support the implementation business case. Establishment of a HIB Interface Architect role to support development of enterprise architecture interface components. Provision of technical support to the i-Pharmacy and CN&MIS projects. Analysis of the existing Cloverleaf middleware solution. Scoping and analysis of business requirements for inclusion in the business case for replacement of the state wide out of hospital Client Management Engine solution. Management, analysis, design, and prototyping of the Identity Management Enterprise Architecture solution for SA Health based on a smartcard trial carried out at the RAH and LMH.Major Achievements:• Projects were delivered using the newly created SA Health SDLC methodology and production change control process with no negative impact to the business.• Establish a new technology development and support capability for SA Health and DWS based on the InterSystems Ensemble/Cache/HealthShare toolset.

This involved working with third party vendors to define, scope, and deliver a number of initiatives to support the ongoing day-to-day operation of the Ministry as a whole. Gary brought a structured approach to the work to ensure clear visibility of the program progress was retained at all times and the work was delivered as required. Projects in this period which included the following: Design, build, test, and implement a pilot standard operation environment to a 12 user pilot group. Design, build and test a deployment and distribution framework to automate re-imaging Ministry desktops. Implementation of a virtual server back-up solution for the existing production Faxware system. Upgrade of the Ministry e-mail system with a new Exchange mail server cluster and migration of 2000 mail boxes. Manage the relocation of the 90 person IPONZ business unit LAN infrastructure from Lower Hutt to new premises in Wellington cbd. Managed a network performance audit of the Ministry network enabling network performance to be baselined across the organisation. Major Achievements:• Projects were delivered using the newly created MED Project Management methodology and production change control process with no negative impact to the business.• Spot improvements were made as a result of the network audit improving Christchurch user performance and highlighting QoS configuration errors.

Responsibilities:Gary moved from NZ to Adelaide in 2002 as an internal transfer to assist with the set up of EDS Credit Services in Adelaide following the outsourcing of the Westpac Mortgage Centre. He joined the team as a project management specialist and was involved in working with all levels of the organisation to transition the management and delivery staff from Westpac to EDS.Major Achievements:• Implementation of the EDS enterprise program office model to support transition from Westpac.• Design, build and implement an operational risk management system to meet contracted client requirements.• Creation and implementation of an internet solution to replace the existing Westpac system, including cleansing and migration of existing data.• Development and implementation of a standard Request Management system to handle change requests from the client. This was developed by tailoring the existing EDS standards and mapping to the clients processes to ensure clean flow and hand-offs.• Creation and operationalisation of a business process management team to create and maintain business process documentation and models for the organisation. Process models were used to accurately simulate existing processes to determine the potential impacts of changes to service levels and resourcing profiles.
