Summa E-Rate Solutions manages the E-Rate process for smaller public and private school applicants with the mission of helping them secure bidders offering more comprehensive and cost-effective solutions, especially solutions that involve educational broadband, and wireless solutions.

Comcast is the nation’s largest provider of video, internet and voice services to 53 million residential customers in 40 states under the XFINITY brand, and also to small and medium-sized businesses. Comcast Business is comprised of two divisions; SMB and Enterprise. The SMB division focuses on selling business and hospitality data, (cable business internet and Ethernet hybrid fiber and coax dedicated internet), video, business phone plus advanced voice solutions like Business Voice Edge (hosted voice) and PRI’s to businesses from 1 to 75 employees, while the Enterprise division focuses on selling mainly fiber solutions to larger businesses, 75 employees of more. The Comcast SMB division has grown at the expense of communication companies like AT&T because telecom internet solutions for small businesses are limited to DSL.

The Time Warner Cable Business Class (TWCBC) Enterprise Division focuses on selling the TWCBC portfolio of products; cable data, IP VPN, voice, PRI, online backup and hosted exchange cloud solutions, video, Ethernet services and coax and fiber dedicated Internet. The Enterprise vertical division, working with in conjunction with the TWC government relations staff, and legacy franchise agreements, is a provider of data, voice and video services for government agencies; local, county, state and federal. Additionally this division targets K-12 schools, healthcare, higher education, hospitality and entertainment.

These were the early years of cable business services as Comcast never officially got into this business until January of 2007. The general manager of the Comcast Northern Santa Barbara County cable system came from Cox Cable in 2004 where as the Cox finance director, she saw considerable revenue growth coming from business services. Cox launched its business services division in 2001. So my responsibilities were mainly to work with the sales and marketing manager and launch Workbench Internet to businesses in northern county; to find trophy hotels like the Santa Maria Inn, and the Santa Maria Radisson, and launch Comcast hospitality Internet; and to launch Comcast Enterprise dedicated fiber Internet and metro Ethernet circuits to targeted accounts; Allan Hancock College, the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District and the Orcutt Unified and Lompoc Unified School Districts.
