Located and interviewed people who tested positive for HIV and/or syphilis in the Triad area of North Carolina. Confidential in-depth interviews about their sex partners, needle use, drug addictions, and lifestyle. We notified sex and needlesharing partners of possible exposure to HIV or syphilis, and offered testing and counseling at local health department STD clinics. My career in radio was cut short several times due to moving from one city to another, and due to on-air "incidents" (comments which angered listeners). People are so sensitive nowadays!

Administered US Department of Justice Community Anti-Crime Program for two years. Wrote grants, hired staff, organized numerous Neighborhood Watch groups in Roanoke City, founded West End Community Center, founded, published, and edited The Valley Observer newspaper... We changed the face of Roanoke City government, and empowered lots of neighborhood people who formerly had little voice in their government.

Hosted "The Gary Minter" afternoon talk show Monday-Friday afternoons--after Rush Limbaugh-- on WFIR radio. Calls from listeners livened up our interviews with famous and semi-famous people. We almost solved the JFK assassination thanks to the late Jim Garrison (New Orleans DA), Jack Storm, Oliver Stone, and other honest people who care about truth and justice.
