I currently work as part of the current class valves team at Rolls-Royce Derby. This role involves various safety case related tasks.My main role is the lead author for all Safety Justifications produced for the current class valves team. These include Deterministic, Probabilistic and Qualitative cases. When producing a safety cases I am required to adhere to strict due process.Typical Safety cases that I produce are produced using a multi legged arguments e.g. claim, arguments and evidence basis these also include As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) assessments.I provide technical governance for all safety case issues within valves team, this includes technical checking of contractors work. Providing detailed technical comments prior to approval of documentation.Additional daily tasks include approving safety related documentation, producing Technical Statements (Advice), addressing SRD/INSA concerns, HAZOPs, conducting gap analysis assessments and locally managing the Live Files. I also undertake large scoping tasks, packaging the tasks into manageable work streams for contractors, this includes the management of safety case authors provided by contractors. I have managed a number of large projects (Plat Life Extensions (PLEx)) for my business unit, this involves the production of specifications and issuing the Request for Quotations (RFQs) against the specifications to allow contractor to provide an actuate quote against the requirements and interface with contactors on a regular basis. I also manage contract reviews to ensure contract proposals are compliant with the requirements identified within the specification.
