As a kid in school my curriculum was based around my early interest in Engineering and I studied Design and Technology Metalwork and Engineering Drawing. Leaving school in England I returned to the Republic of Ireland to join my parents. I served my apprenticeship with a small Marine Engineering Company in Bray Co. Wicklow Ireland. It was during this time as a teenager I developed an interest in music. I was fortunate as I got to know a few people involved in the Pirate Radio scene in Dublin and became a radio presenter. Using my new found interest in electronics I built a ‘mobile disco’ as they were known in those days and from there my future sort of mapped itself out.I am now an Electronics Engineer by trade, having served my time working in some of the UK’s most prestigious Recording Studios for 15 years including Angel Studios Islington London, Air Studios Oxford Street and Battery Studios Willesden London. I cut my teeth on Ampex 2-track and 24-track ATR-series recorders and Neve/Solid State Logic recording/mixing consoles. I spent 11 years at Battery as the Technical Manager.With a keen interest in the advancing computer technologies in the late 90’s and after raising a family I moved into the world of Home Automation where I became familiar with Crestron control systems. I was dropped into the deep end with Crestron when a client approached me and asked if I ‘do Crestron?’ I had a look and liked what I saw as it appealed to the electronic geek in me. I became familiar with Crestron’s Simpl Windows software very quickly and I’ve been hooked ever since. I have now been programming Crestron systems since 2000 and have developed a programming framework that is both modular and dynamic.My interests are mainly electronic & mechanical. I have a decent sized workshop at the bottom of my garden where I can tinker with stuff. I do a bit of woodworking from time to time making picture frames and household items. I spend time with my wife & kids whenever I can.
