Almost 7 years ago, I formally "retired" from my role as Chief Knowledge Officer at ICSI, where I had the honor for 12 1/2 years to expand my experience, my knowledge, and I hope my wisdom, in supporting the changes needed in our world to improve the well being of our citizens. The past 7years of "retirement" have been both rewarding, as well as unsettling...learning to relax can be a difficult thing to do. The freedom from organizational constraints (as protective and valuable as they are) have allowed me to engage in intriguing experiences, opportunities, and conversations. The passion I noted above is only fueled by community conversations, and an increasing recognition that we will only address the challenges of improving the health and well being of our communities, by reaching across boundaries, specifically from my past health care experience to listen to, empathize with, and understand the true needs of the community.My primary area of focus is involvement in creating, developing, and supporting a network of individuals committed to bringing positive leadership, collaboration, aesthetics, and collaboration to addressing the challenges in health care and in our communities. The Care Collaboratory has been a perfect place for my interests and passion, and is evolving into a meaningful place to support creativity, innovation, and bring diverse perspectives to engaging and energizing conversations. Check us out at carecollaboraty.orgI also presently serve as Board Chair of Kairos Alive (a social impact organization, using music, motion, stories to improve well being), I also serve on the Quality Committee at Hennepin County Medical Center (a small role in supporting their impressive work), and have joined the board of the Minnesota Community Healthworkers Alliance. In addition, I spent over 2 years supporting a statewide quality initiative for NYU student health, applying my experience in QI to their efforts,and also served as an advisor to a project for Stanford's Clinical Excellence Research Center, as they developed a project for managing depression in primary care.
