Working in the worlwide StorNext Professional Services team, I am the sole engineer based in the UK.My role is to travel to customer sites to perform installations, upgrades and health checks, usually working alone. Occasionally I work remotely, but I have a need to be extremely self-sufficient. I am one of four within my team who are expert in Lattus, the Object Storage application based on Amplidata products.Customers use wide and varied range of storage hardware platforms and differing infrastructure, which means I need to have a good understanding of them all, from the well-known vendors such as EMC, HDS, HP, Nexsan and Netapp.

Part of the team who manage the migration of internal customers storage into the SAN.I built a team that implemented a strategic backup solution.

My first project was to physically separate the two fabrics.I was then tasked with migrating away from the homegeneous EMC environment to a storage virtualisation project (which I didn't see to completion due to the department being outsourced to HP)I also worked on the design for a VMWare migration.

Originally working on-site at TVP as an EMC consultant, I was taken on directly by the customer to coninue the support of their SAN environment.This included implementing a backup to disk solution, and migrating storage to a DMX.

Working for EMC, I was a member of the BAU team, managing large amounts of storage provisioning.

I was originally brought on board to upgrade an old version of Siemens Nixdorf version of Networker.This turned into a full blown migration to EMC Networker on a SUN V880, and increasing the backups to encompass all major systems including a number of clusters.I then increased the configuration to provide a full off-site copy of all backups to the D.R site.
