Responsible for business development, partnerships, people and project management and development, for the Edmonton Branch.

Responsible for all IM and IT services for the ministry. As CIO responsible for setting strategic direction for all IM and IT activities for the ministry. Received the Premier’s Award of Excellence for Operational Planning and Reporting System work (2007 Bronze).

Project management, systems and business analysis, design and development for multiple client web projects such as billing/invoicing, data validation/acquisition, custom components, affiliate management, online surveying, estores, search engines.

Responsible for design, development and implementation of the QuickTax Web product for 2001. This project was entirely web based using Java J2EE technology under JRun/Linux, and was successfully implemented on time for the 2000 tax year. The role carried responsibilities for project management, staffing, budgeting, and technical leadership for a group of 20 Software/System Engineers and Quality Assurance/Tax Analysts.

Reporting to the President, responsible for budgeting, planning, technical leadership and managing all projects, development, QA, help desk and operations activities for 40 full time and contract staff. Implemented NrG Highway for the Web – Java based Internet application for natural gas nominations across Canada and the US.

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading Information Management and Technology audits for SAP implementations, in-house systems and general IM & T controls. This includes risk assessment and audit program development, facilitation of assessment workshops, and development and presentation of audit reports to senior management.

Responsible for a diverse series of projects and responsibility areas, including: Disaster Recovery, Business Transformation, NOVA Gas Clearinghouse/Houston, Corporate E-Mail Strategy, Executive Workstation Deployment, Desktop Services, End-User Computing, and the NOVA Computer Services Training Group. Main responsibilities included: Supervision of up to 21 staff, provide IT strategy to senior management, provide technical direction and implement solutions, provide and maintain budgets and project plans.

Responsible for new systems development in the areas of Human Resources, Marketing Sales Statistics, Financial Planning and General Accounting. Primarily used MODEL 204 4GL/DBMS in an IBM 308x MVS environment.

Responsible for scientific application analysis, development, implementation and support for various systems and projects within the Project and Applications Group using Unisys FORTRAN. Major areas of development were Passenger Inventory, Space Planning, Automated Seat Selection, Flight and Passenger Information Management and Aircraft Weight and Balance. Also provided a Training Instructor/Coordinator capacity as required. This involved the co-ordination, teaching and writing of courses in all system areas.

Responsible for development and implementation of on-line Turnkey systems. Responsibilities included requirement analysis, project control, programming, forms design, systems testing and implementation. Accounting systems such as Payroll, AP, AR, and Inventory Management were the major areas of development using MICOS ISAM DBMS and Extended BASIC/ ASSEMBLER on Data General Nova and Eclipse systems.

Responsible for a wide variety of business applications including Custom Billing, Mortgage Statistical Packages, Inventory Control, AR, AP and Payroll. These were implemented using Olivetti AUDIT 5/6 series microprocessors with ASSEMBLER.
