At Glen Elgin we are responsible for the production of some of the finest, most sought after wine grapes in the Niagara region. I have been provided the unique opportunity to meet and collaborate with some of the biggest stakeholders in Canada's wine industry. Working directly with the president and operations manager has given me perspective on the complexity of large scale farming and it's implications. Thanks to Glen Elgin I have been on the leading edge of viticulture practices, pest management methods, and business development. This role requires me to manage various teams/projects, liaise with clients, conduct crop surveys, plan resources, and operate a variety of heavy equipment. This has also been an excellent time for me to develop my leadership and project management abilities.

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Working with a team of chemical professionals, in a state of the art fire assay lab, I was responsible for the testing of core and soil samples. Working in these extremely dangerous conditions has made me very safety conscious and aware of my surroundings. The position provided me with in depth experience working at accredited, state of the art ISO lab in Mississauga. I am familiar with using a variety of sophisticated lab equipment and the appropriate methods for them. It was a satisfying experience to conduct complex experiments and interpret these results for mineral scientists and surveyors.

Oakville, Ontario

Managed commercial and residential accounts in the Oakville area. Scheduled and arranged most aspects of business including sales meetings, inspections, equipment, exterminations, and much more. Routinely liaised with business owners and QA officials to ensure proper strategies were in place for compliance. This role primarily leveraged my abilities to manage business relations, and apply/communicate specific technical knowledge.

Niagara Region, Ontario

Helped leading researchers perform multi year experiments regarding fruit production, and pesticide effects. Primary research focused on fungi parasites, pitted tree fruits, and viticulture practices. I gained a plethora of lab, field, and greenhouse experience. Became very familiar with Integrated Pest Management practices, as well as the life cycles of many insects. Most of this research was a mix of agricultural and entomological experiments. Being mentored by great researchers and other students was a rare and valuable opportunity.

As a member of the retail distribution center in Milton, I served at one of the fastest paced food warehouses in the GTA. Here I gained tremendous experience in the operation of a variety of MHE. Here I gained over 3000 hours of forklift operation experience with no issues or accidents. I also gained logistical insight of how products make their way from producer to retail and the special needs of certain products.

With a large array of industrial equipment, I assisted in the production of many different types of resins and surface coating materials. I gained valuable insight into the operation of large scale manufacturing procedures and infrastructure. Under the guidance of an experienced operator I learned different safety protocols for a variety of highly dangerous chemicals. This experience taught me a great deal of respect of the intricate nature of chemical production.

Milton

As a produce clerk I was a vital part of store operations, quality assurance, and inventory management. Specifically, I spent many years learning different produce types, the care they require, and how to best deliver those goods to customers. In this position I became licensed for power fork lift operation. This was a great experience while being a student and integrated well with my related farm position.

After many years of assisting the owner of this farm I was asked to lead a seasonal crew through retail, production, and market operations. This farm produces dozens of different berries, vegetables, fruit, flowers, and more. I have become very knowledgeable about plant life cycles, as well as production methods and equipment operation. I gained valuable leadership and management experience in this role.
