Began as Engineering Technician doing surveying, drafting and inspection at the lowest level and working my way up in a field office for 7 years. The second 7 years were in another field office as a higher level technicial and an Engineer in Training in positions involving more leadership and responsibility. The following 6 years were spent as an Engineer in the DOT headquarters split between doing federal transportation studies in the Planning Office and as a plan review in the PS&E Section.… Show more Began as Engineering Technician doing surveying, drafting and inspection at the lowest level and working my way up in a field office for 7 years. The second 7 years were in another field office as a higher level technicial and an Engineer in Training in positions involving more leadership and responsibility. The following 6 years were spent as an Engineer in the DOT headquarters split between doing federal transportation studies in the Planning Office and as a plan review in the PS&E Section. Then 6 years in a District Office, starting as the District Materials Engineer, then as a Project Engineer in charge of a field office and lastly a Supervising Engineer overseeing the Construction and Design of the district. The balance of my WSDOT was experience was spent in the Headquarters Construction where I was providing oversight and authority statewide on construction issues for field offices on large change orders and claim settlements and certifying FHWA projects.
