Engineering Manager
Current• Served as design lead for effort to introduce automated assembly techniques to our manufacturing processes to achieve cost reduction target of 50% for FY22.• Served as product owner for the MxD family of bearing designs. Initiated concept designs, worked with stakeholders in other disciplines to refine product requirements, and conducted concept review and down selection. Oversaw design activities thru initial prototype release, fabrication, and build. Supported testing at Johnson Controls JADEC test facility. Worked to incorporate lessons learned from initial builds and testing into design prior to release for production in early FY22.• Developed design requirements for next generation of Synchrony’s Engineering internal design tools. Prototyped next generation of Engineering design tool concepts to assess level of effort, maintainability, and time to market. Concepts included a web-based .net core server with React UI, updated C# and WPF desktop app running on .net core 6 with improved document handling tabs, and an electron.js and typescript version. • Implemented Agile planning processes for team task tracking to better support prioritization and completion of tasks in-line with company priorities and better define near-term goals and scope. • Pursued offloading of non-core tasks to more specialized resources elsewhere within Johnson Controls to minimize duplicated effort and reduce workload on direct reports. • Evaluated tools and resources available within Johnson Controls and implemented process improvements to reduce Engineer time required to share design information between Synchrony and Johnson Controls design teams by 20%. • Served as Business Development’s Engineering contact to help answer customer questions, develop customer system concepts, quotes, and proposals. Helped to secure 2 new customers for FY21.• Served as Subject Matter Expert for Magnetic Bearing Systems on 2 customer-led 8D problem solving teams.
