• Served as design lead for effort to introduce automated assembly techniques to our manufacturing processes to achieve cost reduction target of 50% for FY22.• Served as product owner for the MxD family of bearing designs. Initiated concept designs, worked with stakeholders in other disciplines to refine product requirements, and conducted concept review and down selection. Oversaw design activities thru initial prototype release, fabrication, and build. Supported testing at Johnson Controls JADEC test facility. Worked to incorporate lessons learned from initial builds and testing into design prior to release for production in early FY22.• Developed design requirements for next generation of Synchrony’s Engineering internal design tools. Prototyped next generation of Engineering design tool concepts to assess level of effort, maintainability, and time to market. Concepts included a web-based .net core server with React UI, updated C# and WPF desktop app running on .net core 6 with improved document handling tabs, and an electron.js and typescript version. • Implemented Agile planning processes for team task tracking to better support prioritization and completion of tasks in-line with company priorities and better define near-term goals and scope. • Pursued offloading of non-core tasks to more specialized resources elsewhere within Johnson Controls to minimize duplicated effort and reduce workload on direct reports. • Evaluated tools and resources available within Johnson Controls and implemented process improvements to reduce Engineer time required to share design information between Synchrony and Johnson Controls design teams by 20%. • Served as Business Development’s Engineering contact to help answer customer questions, develop customer system concepts, quotes, and proposals. • Managed a team of Engineers, Designers, and Drafters in addition to my existing responsibilities as Lead Mechanical Engineer. • Helped to guide career development of direct reports with an emphasis on cross-training to ensure key knowledge and skills were spread throughout the team. • Developed onboarding processes to ensure smooth integration of new hires with the rest of the team. • Helped develop staffing plan to support completion of projects that would overwhelm primary team members by using external contractors and engineers from elsewhere within Siemens Dresser-Rand. • Participated in DFMEA process to ensure lessons learned and risk mitigations are incorporated in new product designs. • Successfully designed family of bearing products for HVAC customer encompassing 11 different bearing designs and associated tooling and processes for release to manufacturing, totaling a 5x increase in Synchrony’s production capabilities. • Initiated and led effort to redesign bearing position sensors to reduce cost by 50% by switching from machined aluminum to injection-molded plastic and eliminating use of labor-intensive epoxy during sensor assembly.• Successfully developed and presented expected schedules and resource plans to maintain project support and planning commitment for FY18, FY19, and FY20.

• Develop concepts of new bearing systems for future projects.• Performed CFD analysis of bearing components and systems to ensure adequate thermal safety margins and performance.• Implemented process improvements to reduce radial and thrust bearing magnetics design cycle time by almost 75% by rewriting and modernizing design tools to make use of in-built SolidWorks macros and magnetics FEA tool Lua scripting automation. Design tools rewritten in C# with a WPF UI.• Designed high-speed bearing system for ATEX-rated, multi-stage oil & gas compressor and worked with Dresser-Rand Engineers to develop integration procedures at the Olean, New York compressor facility.• Trained Dresser-Rand technicians on integration build process and assembly techniques.

• Served as Mechanical Engineer developing radial and thrust magnetic bearing designs for commercial HVAC, military, aerospace, and educational customers as part of the Mechanical Engineering and design group. • Served as Mechanical Designer of Fusion™ Radial Magnetic Bearing and Lead Design Engineer of Fusion™ Thrust Magnetic Bearing. • Mechanical designer of magnetic thrust and radial bearings from initial analysis thru to release-to-manufacturing, with special attention towards high-performance, low-cost designs.• Drawing review for correct GD&T (sensible datums, true-position tolerances, etc.), manufacturability, and necessity (do we really need this part and/or feature?).• Prepare, present, and participate in design and analysis reviews for internal, multi-disciplinary teams as well as clients and customers.• Work with internal machine shop to increase manufacturability of parts being designed.• Develop, design, and troubleshoot tooling and fixtures to support new or existing manufacturing processes.• Train technicians on assembly techniques and processes and oversee assembly of initial prototype designs.
