Oyster Restoration Monitoring – Three-year project (2018-2021) studying 16 restored oyster reefs of varying ages using a space-for-time analysis to assess most important restoration criteria. Tampa Bay Water Atlas – Coordination of annual agreements from Manatee and Pinellas Counties to support continuation of the Tampa Bay Water Atlas, a USF Water Institute web-based platform. TBEP Quality Management Plan – Quality Assurance Manager for the TBEP QMP, which detailed protocols and procedures for technical and administrative activities. Stormwater Outfall Prioritization – Using GIS layers and field assessments we identified approximately 125 stormwater outfall pipes greater than 36” diameter in Manatee and Sarasota Counties and prioritized them for retrofit or addition of Best Management Practices using several metrics. 1912 Cortez Schoolhouse – Multiple local and federal partners restored an artificially isolated lagoon to the bay to enhance juvenile fish habitat and nursery area in the Village of Cortez. Little Wekiva River Exotics Control – Coordination with an Eagle Scout candidate to initiate hand removal of Hydrilla spp. and Hygrophila spp. from the Little Wekiva River. A group of over 30 volunteers worked to remove these exotic invasives from approximately ¼ mile of the river.Historic Sarasota Bay Benthic Habitat Map – Production of historic coastal Sarasota Bay benthic habitat using historic aerial photography (ca. 1950) and late 1800s hand-drawn maps. The images were georeferenced and then ortho rectified and interpreted to produce a database of historic seagrass, oyster bars and intertidal unvegetated habitats.Artificial Reefs – Construction of artificial reef systems throughout Sarasota Bay proper and the nearshore Gulf of Mexico to enhance juvenile fisheries. Sarasota Bay seagrass monitoring study: a hierarchical evaluation of seagrass polygon dynamics – This project identified, evaluated and assessed changes in seagrass areal extent within Sarasota Bay.
