Plan organize, and direct the programs, activities, and supervisors/personnel of the Spokane Police Department (SPD) Records and Property Departments. Work is complex and involves significant accountability ensuring SPD Records and Property Department activities comply with federal and state laws and regulations and SPD policies. I administered seven social service programs and oversaw an annual budget of $14 million. I directly supervise, review, and praise/correct the performance of seven program managers and I indirectly supervise 80 staff. I am involved in the fiscal year budget planning and budget oversight that helps focus our scope of work helping us become more fiscally sound and successful. Successfully negotiated and advocated for changes to Washington State and Local City and County contracts to increase program funding. I have developed many community-based partnerships. Worked with homeless families, that qualified for the CALWORK TANF program, and helped them attain housing. I found housing and taught independent living skills (ILS) to vulnerable adults who were diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. Responsibilities included teaching a weekly housing orientation to 25-35 guests. I worked as a liaison and client advocate between client and landlord, gave loans out to clients in need of deposit or utility assistance, tracked client’s loans in a database, and sent out monthly billing statements to the clients, Housing First case management of 40-50 clients for a six-month duration. Assigned a caseload of adult offenders directly by a CA Parole Officer, to oversee clients that were dual diagnosed with substance/alcohol addictions and mental health disorders at our drop-in day center. I taught weekly classes that ranged from ILS, decision making, 12 Step Chemical Dependency Program, relationship and family, computer literacy, friendship, crisis management, and creation of a Wellness Recovery Action Plan at a rehabilitation program that catered to vulnerable adults living with persistent mental illness and adult offenders out on probation. Helped clients in crisis intervention, directed them towards better decision-making, and helped them develop better-coping skills for their mental illness. I charted weekly clients’ progress.
