Broad expertise in immunology and immuno-oncology, leading programs across matrixed international teams, solving complex problems and discovering new science. Two-times recipient of the Ondetti-Cushman Award, the highest BMS scientific award.

Discovery Biology lead for Lck kinase program full T cell inhibition, resulting in the discovery of extremely potent 10 - 30 picomolar kinase inhibitors that were highly efficacious in mouse collagen induced arthritis and solid organ transplant models. Discovered dasatinib (Spycel), one of the program compounds, was a highly potent BCR-Abl inhibitor. This work led to the nomination for development for CML for dasatinib, now approved for chronic myelogenous leukemia. Inventor on patent for use in Oncology. Discovered reasons dasatinib at clinical dose and schedule is not immunosuppressive.Biology lead for the p38 kinase program for rheumatoid arthritis and related autoimmune diseases, resulting in 3 First in Human and a successful Ph II trial in rheumatoid arthritis. Discovered the lead BMS p38 compound is a dual action kinase inhibitor, distinct from competitor compounds. Co-chair of the BMS Kinase/Phosphatase target class team. Received first Ondetti-Cushman award for work on kinases including dasatinib.Biology lead for the JAK3 program for autoimmune disease. Designed cellular assays including a high throughput flow cytometry assay of JAK-STAT signaling in human blood, leading to the BMS Leveraging Technology Award in 2012.
