Online Communications Manager
CurrentGary is responsible for the design and management of www.bnl.gov, the online presence of Brookhaven National Laboratory, a United States Department of Energy research facility. He specializes in managing teams that build unique websites where clean design, positive user experience, persuasiveness, and reputation are critical. His management responsibilities include site governance, development and implementation of content strategy, design of websites for organizational sub-units, graphic design, information architecture, implementation of new online technologies, video services, push email newsletters, and content management systems. Gary is also responsible for the management of Brookhaven's employee intranet. Responsible for the design and maintenance of top-level Laboratory websites including the following.-- National Synchrotron Light Source II, www.bnl.gov/nsls2-- Center for Functional Nanomaterials, www.bnl.gov/cfn-- Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, www.bnl.gov/lsst-- NASA Space Radiation Laboratory, www.bnl.gov/nsrl-- Electron-Ion Collider, www.bnl.gov/eic(2015 and 2016) U.S. Department of Energy Expert Advisory Panel member charged with assessment of working relationship of Office of Science Communications and Public Affairs group with Congressional media officers, national laboratories, advocacy societies and organizations, and universities.(2009) Organized InterLab 09, a four day workshop for web designers, web application developers, online communications professionals, and managers of internet resources throughout the Department of Energy complex.
