Project management of survey provision for two large offshore wind developments. Aspects covered included client liaison and production/ review of monthly deliverables; co-ordination of all parties in offshore boat-based bird surveys (vessel crews, surveyors etc); weather analysis to determine survey windows; survey data analysis, and out of hours emergency H&S contact.Project management of provision of ecological services on onshore wind farm. Aspects covered included management of subcontracted ecologist and junior staff; regular liaison with specialist personnel and project managers; supervision of forestry clearfelling operations in regard to sensitive habitats and species; provision of and supervision of ECoW services; provision of 'toolbox talks' to site personnel; water quality monitoring; and production/ review of client deliverables.Protected species surveys including otter, red squirrel and water vole.

These included habitat creation/ enhancement for water vole & otter, mink control programmes; species rich grassland creation; woodland creation; pond creation and others.Funded, co-ordinated and largely implemented Fife water vole, otter and mink survey 2010.Gained expert witness experience representing Fife Council at public inquiry during this role, successfully protecting red squirrel habitat from commercial mineral extraction. The outcome was a pioneering case in the use of the NC(S)A 2004 to prevent development on nature conservation grounds.

Initially I began as a voluntary research assistant, working on a wetlands inventory as part of wider WFD projects. This was followed by a year as a salaried casework officer with the policy advice team. My main focus was onshore windfarms, assessing collision risk and contributing mitigation design for birds. I gained a great deal of EIA experience doing this, critically evaluating ES's for inconsistencies.After this I spent some time as a data management officer, working on UK datasets for Black grouse and Ring Ouzel among others.Finally I spent some time as an assistant conservation officer, working on responses to a wide range of development proposals including wind farms, marina developments, commercial peat extraction to name but a few.
