In my role of Environmental Regulations Adviser, I support the business to meet a variety of regulatory needs. This covers environmental regulatory reporting requirements, external liaisons with regulators to discuss Policy & Bathing Waters and providing regulatory advice, guidance and environmental expertise to the business. A key part is also supporting the business to become more transparent and achieve our aims as set out in the Improving Urban Waters routemap, primarily with regards to publishing data about overflow events.

Working to provide advice, guidance and support across the business on Environmental Regulatory policy - with particular focus on Bathing Waters, UWWTD and Regulatory project sign off for capital works. Collaborating across the business to focus on current Legislation, European Directives and SEPA policies whilst ensuring we adapt to any future changes and manage our responsibility to the environment and our customers.This includes liaising across the business to support regulatory compliance and contributing to the development of existing and new policies with external regulators - whilst communicating to the wider business the impact of these policy changes.

My key responsibilities were creating, modifying and implementing ISO standard assessment models and reports. My team and I are tasking with implementing ISO 9001 and ISO55001 throughout various areas of the company, and I am a key figure and point of contact for this target to be met.I was the Management System Lead for the Customer Service Delivery directorate, and also carried out various site assessments and produced regional/multi asset reports with highlighted improvements and risks identified in non-conforming activities.I also chaired senior management annual reviews, identifying progress, threats and opportunities within the directorate management system.I am a trained auditor within ISO9001 - ISO17025 - ISO55001 standards and work across these standards to improve efficiency and embody Continual Improvement.

During my 9 month secondment, I was employed and trained as a Quality Advisor and auditor over the ISO standards 17025, 9001 and 55001. This role involved being trained and carrying out scheduled project audits across various different international business standards, and liasing, auditing and reporting on various business wide processes through continous improvement. I worked remotely and also from various sites, and gained valuable experience in working to individual project timescales, and also as part of a wider team in a new discipline. I gained crucial experience and knowledge of the wider business and my secondment was crucial in making the transition from Scientist onto a new role within the company.

An experience member of a UKAS accredited laboratory team, tasked with the analysis of a high sample turnover for the prescence of parasitic Cryptosporidium within public and commercial water supplies. Skills include fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, PCR genotyping, alongside routine Immunomagnetic separation and elution of final treated and raw water supplies. Experienced in method witnessing and staff training/mentoring, and the promotion of Lean thinking and improvement models to increase efficiency within the team and the wider company.
