Gary Smith is a servant-leader with over six years of experience as an educator. As shown in his resume, Coach Smith successfully served high poverty and Title I schools in various roles including, but not limited to, athletic director, Physical Education and Health Education teacher, head basketball coach, and organization faculty sponsor. Throughout his career, he has continued to develop himself professionally and academically through rigorous leadership assignments, additional certifications, and the study of research and literature of best practices in Physical Education and coaching. Coach Smith’s greatest desire is to guide student-athletes in defining success by formulating and executing a plan to succeed in their endeavors. He aggressively pursues grants and other funding opportunities to fund his athletic programs, most recently securing $16,000 for the Columbia Middle School athletic department.Coach Smith lives in Atlanta, Georgia. He is married to his wife, Stephany, an Army officer. Together, they share one daughter, Mikayla. Coach Smith’s education credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Master of Education in the same, and an Educational Specialist degree in Coaching Pedagogy.
