Hse Advisor Obc Bpxa AlaskaWestern Geophysical Feb 2001 - Sep 2001UsPreparing for a shallow water OBC project in Simpson Lagoon offshore Prudhoe Bay. Specialised vessels were to be used for this project, which were on-site from previous years. The vessels consisted of two Flexi-float cable/recorders, a purpose-built landing craft with a portable source and Arctic Star source vessel. As this was a new project for BPXA, a specialized Safety Case and Project Plan, including an environmental impact on Marine Mammals, and an in-depth waste management plan, had to be written for BPXA as no procedures, JSAs or risk assessments were available for this crew. This had to be created from new which took approximately four months to compile with the first drafts of all documentation accepted by BPXA. -
Hse Advisor Obc / Tz OperationsWestern Geophysical Jul 2000 - Nov 2000UsOBC operations Venezuela, initial responsibilities was to assist in organizing the rig-up of deep water and shallow water vessels to carry out and conduct seismic operations in the Gulf of Praia, Venezuela. Project consisted of rigging-up of deep water cable / recording vessels and multiple shallow-water vessels, including a shallow-water source vessel, with mobilization being completed in Trinidad. Auditing of and training personnel for a local support vessel in Trinidad was also required.Trained locally hired Venezuelan employee (which was a very difficult task due to not being able to speak Spanish). However, this was accomplished with the aid of a translator. Compiled a crew safety management system, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and emergency response plans; conducted daily meetings and addressed all risks and issues from previous day. -
Hse AdvisorWestern Geophysical Jul 1996 - 2000UsHSE Advisor Onboard Western Legend and Western Trident January 1999 to June 2000(3D-multi Streamer Vessels)During my time serving onboard these vessels, my main task was to implement and populate the vessels’ new Safety Management System by introducing the International Safety Management code (ISM). This consisted of reviewing and rewriting all operational procedures, conducting ISM awareness training with all crew members for both seismic and marine operations, and redefining the vessels onboard emergency procedures as per the requirements of the ISM code. These had to be completed prior to the vessels being ISM audited by a Panamanian classification society in order to be in regulatory compliance. As the Western Trident was a new class of vessel to the feet in January 2000, many of the onboard procedures had to be written and approved by HQ. My main achievement was that both vessels received verification that the SMS onboard was working and was effective and that the crew had full knowledge and understanding of the ISM Code and received ISM Certifications from the Panamanian classification society.HSE Advisor Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) July 1996 to December 1998Two years experience working as HSE Safety Advisor on an OBC crew where my main duties and responsibilities were extended to five additional vessels within the operation. While generally based on the recording vessel (mother vessel), I transferred between the other vessels to assist and support the crew operations in all HSE-related matters. Experience gained while working in various parts of the world from the North Sea, to shallow water operations in the Red Sea areas, with both marine and land operations in the Middle and Far East.
