Master Chief Stephenson was born and raised in Rockledge, FL. He joined the Navy in June 2000 and attended Recruit Training and Surface Electronic Technician (Communications) School in Great Lakes, IL with follow on training in Norfolk, VA.His first duty station was Naval Submarine Support Facility in Groton, CT, where he worked in the NAV/IC Repair Shop. In June 2003 he cross-rated to Submarine Electronic Technician (Communications) and attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School. His first submarine assignment was aboard USS MIAMI (SSN 755) in Groton, CT, where he earned his Silver Dolphins in December, 2005. In 2009 he reported to Naval Submarine School, Groton, CT, where he led the Responsive and Pre-Deployment Communications Training Division. Later in that same year, he was selected to Chief Petty Officer. In March of 2012, he reported to the USS TOLEDO (SSN 769) as the Communications LCPO and NODEA and was selected to Senior Chief in 2013. In October of 2015 he once again found himself at Naval Submarine School where he served as the Training Support Department Master Chief. In May 2018 he was selected to Master Chief and went on to serve as the Chief of the Boat on board USS SAN JUAN (SSN 751) from April 2018 until he was installed as the Command Master Chief in the reestablishment of SUBMARINE SQUADRON EIGHT in Norfolk, VA in November 2021. Master Chief Stephenson is a graduate from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelors’ of Science in Organizational Education and Development, Senior Enlisted Academy Course 211 - BLUE and CMC/COB Capstone Course 18070 at Naval Leadership and Ethics Center, Newport, RI.He is entitled to wear the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (six awards), and various other campaign, unit, and personal awards.
