Gary Strack has over 20 years experience creating and managing successful food and beverage concepts in Greater Boston as both a chef and restaurateur. He is the proprietor and creative director of events at Brick & Mortar, a nationally recognized and multi-award winning craft cocktail bar and was on the vanguard of establishing artisanal spirits and classic techniques as one of the hottest trends in America. He is also the creative force and pit master of the Hog Island Smoke Club, a pop-up that explores traditional smoking techniques in the vibrant New England farming, fishing, and agricultural landscape. Gary has consulted for many clients and organizations in the food and beverage space, ranging from local restaurants to international producers of spirits, and organizations such as Facebook, Google, Moderna, Takeda, Red Bull, CNN, and Harvard. He is deeply passionate about community-based initiatives that enhance the cultural and economic vitality of neighborhoods and organizations. He was a consultant on the creative team that started the Starlight Square, which saw a parking lot transformed into an inclusive public theatre and commercial space. He also consulted and helped develop the Venture Cafe Cambridge, a non-profit foundation that connects start-ups with established entrepreneurs and provides networking and educational opportunities. Gary's mission is to bring people together through innovative and quality food and beverage experiences that reflect his values of hospitality, community, and sustainability. He is interested in helping established venues stay relevant with today’s every changing environment, supporting new venues establish and brand themselves, and working with local governments to make nightlife and entertainment accessible and enjoyable.
