Then using techniques such as event sourcing and streaming data pipelines using tools such as Kafka to handle the processing, access and storage of time sensitive data.• Utilize proven microservices based containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, but also utilize a service mesh (Istio) to solve the cross-cutting distributed system platform challenges.• Design and develop proof of concepts with the engineering team leads to address the inherent technical risks of adopting new technology and architectural approaches.• Lead and mentor a team of senior architects on the strategy, trade-offs and ultimate selection of new tools and approaches that will be used to build the next generation platform.• Work with the product managers, architects and engineering leadership to break down the vision in concrete milestones for the engineering teams to deliver against. • Work with the other four Distinguished Engineers at Sophos on company-wide strategic initiatives.
