Morehouse College is one of the premier private liberal arts colleges in the country. I served as the Assistant Vice President for Student Development and Director for the Student Counseling and Disability Center. My duties were to oversee the Division’s intrusive intervention strategies that are designed to address myriad and complex matters that threatened our students’ success. I worked across the College to expand the institution’s four-year student developmental model. Apropos to this, I coordinated a team of Student Development Deans, Divisional Advisors, Faculty, and Student Success Coordinators. I was responsible for both counseling and disability services on the campus. During my time at the Center I significantly updated all charted paperwork and related policy and procedure. Outreach into the larger College community has been my responsibility as well. In addition to my administrative duties, I taught multiple courses in the Psychology Department: Intro to Psychology, Colloquium, Psychology of the African American Experience, & Introduction to Peer Intervention; and one course in the Department of African American Studies: Race & Racism.

Supervised a staff of 26, 10 adjunct staff persons, and 100+ volunteers. Responsibilities included ensuring quality programming, fundraising, budget development & management, developing collaborative relationships, developing and maintaining constituency, developing an evaluation plan, providing leadership & training, and creating vision. Community Strategies involved a range of services which included, Community-Based Services (i.e., after school, teen, adult GED, senior, job readiness, leadership, and rites of passage), Healthy Families (child abuse prevention, in-home services), Families and Schools Together – FAST (parent involvement and peer support for at-risk families), Shelter A Family (self-sufficiency and faith community supported services for homeless families), Delowe Village (social and community services for dually diagnosed women with children).
