Fire Fighter
CurrentSurrey Fire and Rescue Service looks after a population of approximately 1,040,000 covering an area of 1,676 square kilometres that includes several large urban areas such as Guildford, Redhill and Woking, 64 miles of motorway, proximity to two major airports and over 200 special risks throughout the County.Core accountabilities include: • Controlling, containing, and extinguishing fires.• Answering emergency situations quickly, assessing conditions, and acting appropriately to contain fires, assist casualties, and prevent escalation.• Administering first aid and artificial respiration to those adversely affected or injured by fire, smoke, or trauma.• Assessing patient needs and providing life support services during medical emergencies.• Maintaining updated knowledge of safety guidelines, fire fighting techniques, treatment protocols, response requirements, and quality assurance procedures.• Inspecting buildings as required for regulatory compliance and safety.• Testing and maintaining operational equipmentKey achievements include:• Awarded Chief Fire Officers Recognition for providing services to a member of public whilst off duty• Acting up to Crew Manager role during simulations and training exercises
