In 2019 I was named Geoscientist of the Year in Newfoundland and Labrador, as recognition for my contribution as a scientific and industry problem solver. Innovative ideas are one thing, but making it happen is another area of strength. I build effective relationships with all stakeholders, bringing the right players together and helping people see the vision and why it is in their interest to be part of the solution, whether it is through access to funding; building important industry partners; or matching researchers, student and recent graduate skills to company needs. As a senior member of the Science Leadership Team, I work with college departments, universities, government and industry to build multidisciplinary teams for early phase applied research projects through to product development.
