I have been the General Manager of 4MBS Classic FM, Brisbane's classical music community radio station, since 1989 having been one of the people who started the station in 1979. We also operate a digital station MBS Light and a nostalgia station Silver Memories that addresses social isolation in the aged community. Unusually for a radio station we have a strong focus on creating employment and performance opportunities for local performers and directors through our festivals and our performance arm Classic Arts. To this end, created the annual 4MBS Festival of Classics in 1994 - now the largest classical music festival in Australia. Created the Brisbane Shakespeare Festival in 2007.In 2010, was the Executive Producer of Havergal Brian's mammoth Gothic Symphony in Brisbane - the first public performance of the work outside of England.

The Festival is usually themed around one or two composers anniversaries. Professional, tertiary, youth and community orchestras and choirs participate along with local soloists. The Festival has a strong focus on using Queensland performers. Several one man plays about composers have been commissioned for the Festival. Festival highlights have included all 32 Piano Sonatas of Beethoven,all 9 Beethoven Symphonies, all the Bach Brandenburg Concertos, Verdi Requiem, an award winning production of the play Amadeus, Tosca Act 1 in St John's Cathedral and much more.

The Festival includes Shakespeare on Oxford in Bulimba and Shakespeare by the Bay in Sandgate. Each weekend concludes with a full production of a Shakespeare play.From 2013 a third location has been added. Artistic Director is Tama Matheson.
