I have worked in Patternmaking for over 25 years and I started my apprenticeship at a small traditional pattern shop until the opportunity came to work for the fast-growing company in The Phoenix Pattern & Tool. Since I have been with the company, we have evolved from tradition hand crafted patterns to fully CNC machined tooling.I have been fortunate to have time served experience in traditional patternmaking which gave me a great starting point into my journey using CAD (computer aided design). As the years went by, I then moved into the management side of the company where my new role has taught me the other side of a business and a great insight to behind the scenes of running a modern company.The experience I have gained in my role as Advanced Manufacturing Manager are--Traditional patternmaking skills-CAD using solid and surface design software packages-Inspection using traditional and modern techniques -reverse engineering using CAD and Faro arms-project management of all new tooling -day to day running of a modern-day pattern shop from delegating employees to dealing directly with our extensive customer base.- designing of patterns, dies, jigs and fixtures, mould tooling, and master models.Whilst I have gained plenty of experience in many fields within our industry, I am still constantly learning that this trade never stops, and that new customer requirements still offer plenty of opportunities to gain more valuable experience to help myself and the company grow.Email – g.timmins@phoenixpatterntool.co.ukWebsite – www.phoenixpatterntool.co.uk
