Initially hired as a part-time children’s director in June 2015, I was called to the role of Associate Pastor in February 2016. Since my hire, Hope has endured a tremendous amount of leadership change, saying goodbye to 9 pastors between 2017 and 2019. As a result, my own duties have often been realigned to meet pressing or seasonal needs. Over the course of my time at Hope, I evaluated and realigned our children’s Sunday School curricula to better fit the overall vision of Hope Church. I developed an annual summer program for children, hosted at a local elementary school. I designed and led a multi-church Faith & Culture Conference in 2016 and 2017. I preached frequently and taught several adult education classes. I collaborated with other leadership staff to lead and design worship services, plan events, evaluate programs, and shape communication. I had oversight of formative communities, a work that included casting vision, recruiting and training leaders, and simplifying opportunities for congregants to enter into group life. As part of supporting community life, I had a particular responsibility to care for Hope's senior members. Other ongoing duties included being a primary resource for pastoral care and counseling, as well as providing counsel and mentoring to other staff members.

New Life (NLPC) serves the community of Ithaca, NY in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. Ithaca is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, and the church served a relentlessly changing group of students and faculty from both schools as well as more stable members of the local community. For 6 years in my role as Pastoral Assistant, I preached regularly (6-12 times each year, and weekly during our senior pastor's 3-month sabbatical). Also, I organized, wrote, and led weekly worship services (wrote the liturgy, coordinated worship participants). One of my primary responsibilities was mentoring university students, and in that role I served as a Cornell chaplain and as a liaison between NLPC and Cornell United Religious Work (the network of student religious organizations of which NLPC was a member). I was elected by the congregation to serve as an elder, and in that role I participated in Session meetings overseeing the spiritual, financial, and practical needs of the church. I had many opportunities to provide pastoral counsel and to teach both adult and youth classes as part of NLPC's education program.

Chesterton House is a Christian study center on campus at Cornell University. For three academic years I served as the Spiritual Director for students living in their men’s residential facility. I met with individual students to provide spiritual direction, accountability, and friendship. I led weekly dinner conversations on a wide range of topics. I also led a weekly staff prayer meeting and supported organizational events as needed.

In my capacity as an ABCM, I trained personal bankers and tellers in customer service and technical functions. I performed needs assessments and quarterly reviews for tellers and personal bankers. As needed, I opened new accounts, sold credit products such as mortgages, loans and credit cards. I also managed rollouts of new bank initiatives within the banking center.
