I joined the committee as my son was at the setting and, as a charity required by law to be run by a parent committee, it was was important to do so. The setting had previously received two outstanding Ofsted inspections and, when my third child starts there, all my children will have benefited from this superior foundation before moving next into reception class! I have been tasked with implementing IT systems, helping to ensure e-Safety guidelines were in place, replacing the company website, setting up a parent contact system and helping to organise fundraising campaigns.

When Woolworths went into liquidation we were unable to meet the high childcare costs and so I became a stay at home dad responsible for their upbringing and all household tasks whilst my wife became the sole income earner. I remained at home when our second child was born. I kept busy delivering leaflets and directories whilst also doing various voluntary roles at Gillingham FC and Teynham Community Preschool. I also set up the "Events in Teynham & Surrounding Area" Facebook and Twitter pages to promote events on the doorstep of the villagers between Faversham and Sittingbourne and to help raise more income for the organisers/charities in the process.

Gillingham Football Club

As a hobby and to keep busy I keep stats and facts on the Gills, the team I support. This led to being asked to write articles for the official matchday magazine and website. After a year this then led to commentating for the 100 or so visually impaired supporters inside the ground on matchdays describing all aspects of the game as it progresses via radio link. Some of the stats content is published as the game progresses via my @Gills_Stats twitter account. Weekly blogs (of which I have won a monthly award for) have also been written in the past for the Gillingham section of BT Vision's "Life's A Pitch" website. The website is now home of BT Sport and the Life's A Pitch brand is one of their flagship football magazine shows.

Gillingham

In my last position as Assistant Manager at Gillingham, I was responsible for a team of around forty colleagues. I was also responsible for meeting targets, store standards, staff training, setting tasks for the day, high customer service levels, store promotions and seasonal transitions as well as salary budgets. Previous to that, I worked in Faversham, Whitstable, Strood and Canterbury as well as helping any other stores that needed help.
