Enterprise Systems Manager

Leyland

I was employed at Cegedim Rx who are a leading Pharmacy and Optometry application and service provider. The enterprise systems manager role was to manage the central services and introduce new services to the business. The role combined 3 main functions; Infrastructure Architecture, Technical Operations and Technical Authoring with 4 direct reports. The role was split between technical and management designing new solutions and maintaining the operation of central services that underpin the services provided to the customer base. The team implemented several large projects with significant achievements such as the Message Handler Service (MHS) which provided the integration of messages between local site services and NHS Digital spine services. A new solution was designed utilising CISCO Blade UCS, HP Nimble Fibre Channel Storage and VMWare running Linux Operating systems, Apache Web Services, Cassandra Databases and Active MQ across multiple Data Centre’s. This resilient solution enabled the business to achieve 100% message delivery for 2 years significantly improving the service provided to our customers reducing the major incidents by 99% over a 3 year period. Additional solutions were also designed, monitored and capacity managed such as the migration and decommissioning of services to Hybrid cloud services allowing for new virtual servers to be established on shared infrastructure and development/UAT environments to burst into IAAS or SAAS services reducing the cost of Azure and AWS development environments. Monitoring & alerting was also introduced utilising Nagios XI with a Zabbix Dashboard for all Data Centre services (6 Data Centres) and Logic Monitor used to monitor the network and firewalls (CISCO ASA, Juniper F5) allowing for identification of issues much earlier. This team also provided 3rd Line support to the service desks due to the technical expertise and understanding of the end to end solution and integration.
