I am 55years old married to Jennifer and we have two children (Mari and James) and have lived in Gosport for 18 years. I started my career in retail and spent 30 years working my way up through the roles resulting in a area manager‘s position.. When my son was diagnosed age 3 I decided to become a full time carer to help my wife I wanted to use my experience as a Father of a special needs child to support other Fathers and their families and I was able to utilise my experience in a voluntary role with the Kid’s charity in their Face 2 Face project While talking to other families I soon became aware of the lack of public knowledge about grants and charities that are available to assist families whose children have additional needs. I decided the only way to ensure families like my own were able to access such information was to research, produce and self fund a web site that was easily accessible and ease of use for all parents to access (www.lovethewayiam.co.uk) covering all of the UK.I then went on to become the special needs representative (voluntary role) on the Children and Young People’s Select Committee. My volunteer work also included the role as a parent representative for the transport appeals panel, the ISP (Inclusion support panel) supporting mainstream children and the FAISP (fair access inclusion panel) which supporting children with additional needs.
