Reporting to both the Senior Manager for Interiors and Plant Manager, this role was based in Enfield Manufacturing Plant. I initially led a team of 6 heads based across 3 locations to project manage seven current model programmes. Customers included Ford, JLR, Renault, GM, Toyota and Honda. The role further expanded to cover Core engineering CAD, CAE and Validation team management in Basildon, UK (increasing responsibility to 18 heads). I also had PD responsibility of a regional instrument panel/console assembly facility in Halewood, UK until sale to IAC in Aug 2008.

Primary function was to deliver innovative, lightweight and cost effective design solutions for interior cockpits (instrument panels, cross-car beams, centre consoles & door trims). Working to budget, this entailed balancing analytical CAE and physical testing to get best overall result. Heavy focus on project delivery to meet key development milestones. This encompassed projects based in UK and Germany with multiple OEMs (Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, GM & BMW).

Additionally led failure analysis investigations of metal and plastic components due to thermal/cyclic loading in key life tests and in the field. Within engineering departments, I gained wide experience in project management, CAE, running vehicle and component tests, data acquisition and analysis, materials selection and failure investigations. This was enhanced by a 4 month secondment to the Materials Group at Ford Motor Company where I was primarily involved in corrosion and adhesive bonding projects. In addition, whilst on rotation in the Quality dept, I carried out a self-assessment exercise of MIRA to the EFQM Business Model which was incorporated into company business strategies.
