Gary retired from Ernst & Young (E&Y) in 2017 and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Edgewell Personal Care where he is the Chairman of the Audit Committee and is a member of the Governance Committee.He is a “Big Four” accounting professional with a record of increasing leadership and operational responsibilities over a 35-plus year career with E&Y. Gary has a proven record of working with Boards, Audit Committees and management, advising them on matters such as acquisitions and divestitures, restructurings, internal control, accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory matters. He has significant knowledge and expertise working with regulators and standard setters, including the SEC and the PCAOB. Gary has assisted numerous companies plan and successfully navigate their IPO process, including resolving both SEC preclearance and complex comment letter matters and has expertise with a variety of public securities offerings and registration statements. He has a deep understanding of accounting processes and controls, including the globalization of control activities across mature markets and anticipating changes required in rapidly emerging markets. Gary has been heavily involved in audits of internal controls over financial reporting, beginning with the adoption of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX 404) and has supervised dozens of PCAOB inspections. Gary has coordinated audit and business advisory services to more than 200 companies (ranging from startups to Fortune 100 corporations) in the consumer products, retail, distribution, manufacturing and technology industries. During his tenure in EY’s National Office, Gary provided oversight and support to their Assurance practice in the areas of accounting and financial reporting, SEC reporting matters, auditing and attestation standards, risk management, continuous improvement in audit quality, and internal and external inspection processes.
