As the ranking non-sworn member of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s executive team, I lead a dedicated team of professionals within the Financial Services and Operations Support Divisions, assist the Sheriff in directing the operation of the Sheriff's Office, and work closely with the Undersheriff and Chief Deputy Sheriffs over Law Enforcement and Custody Operations to establish and implement goals, objectives, and policy for the agency. I oversee operational and administrative activities in the Sheriff’s Office that encompass Fiscal and Business Operations, Information Systems & Technology, Budget Development & Execution, Human Resources, Public Safety Dispatch, Criminal Records, Training, Contracts & Grants Management, Judicial Services, Crime Data Analysis, and Agency Special Services.I'm proud to be a part of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and work with the men & women who protect and serve the nearly half-million people in "The American Riviera" paradise that is Santa Barbara.

As Chief of Staff for DoD's Performance Improvement Directorate, I bring strong leadership and problem-solving skills to facilitate effective decision-making, project management, and execution of strategic initiatives for six Pentagon Divisions that have Department of Defense-wide impact. I live in the future and focus on long-term planning and projects to implement the Director’s vision and ensure all administrative, financial, and operational aspects are running smoothly. I lead cross-functional teams and connect work streams that would otherwise remain siloed, to align and prioritize Directorate initiatives with the DoD mission and drive project success from concept to execution across the enterprise. I link the Director and leadership team with staff and customers across the broader organization to improve communication, develop more efficient systems for time management and decision-making processes, and help identify opportunities for success or solve core problems. As a trusted advisor, without a biased office agenda, I’m uniquely positioned to bring senior leadership honest, wide-ranging perspectives without turf considerations, provide them with a credible sounding board for improving mission accomplishment and organizational health, and offer knowledgeable analysis and insights into strategic planning and performance management policy, enterprise risk management, organizational governance, stakeholder outreach, and oversight of the federal government's largest portfolio of GAO and Inspector General audits.

I led a team of highly skilled professionals who provide management oversight for the federal government's largest portfolio of performance audits, evaluations, and inspections. The scope of this diverse program spans the entire Department of Defense enterprise and is subject to intense, constant scrutiny from the Government Accountability Office, Congress, Inspectors General, media, and the public. The partnerships I have developed with senior leaders and action offices across the Department of Defense, federal audit liaison community, and external audit agencies have been instrumental in successfully resolving complex – and often contentious or politically sensitive – issues with a focus on improving the DoD's efficiency, effectiveness, and lethality through the performance audit process.

I established a new Division to build greater management oversight for the federal government's largest portfolio of performance audits, a diverse program that spans the Department of Defense and is subject to intense, constant scrutiny from the Government Accountability Office, Congress, Inspectors General, media, and the public. I reviewed all reports, correspondence, and other documents for senior leader signature to ensure they met overall Office of Health Affairs and DHS policy definition & timelines, took into account current management & political trends, and contained sufficient decision-making info for action by senior leadership.As the Office Legislative Affairs liaison, I reviewed and analyzed current and proposed legislation to assess the impact on existing program policies or operations, then provided leadership with recommendations to help influence and manage potential changes.Additionally, I was the primary component liaison for all Office of Inspector General and Government Accountability Office audits, inspections, and reviews for which the Office of Health Affairs has equities.

The Division's troubleshooter. I coordinated across Office of Health Affairs on a wide spectrum of projects: identified key issues and furnished high-impact inputs to drive programs & initiatives forward, drafted active shooter/improvised explosive device protocols on National Security Council Interagency Policy Committee, deployed to establish surge medical capabilities along southwest border.I developed and evaluated Division’s Departmental reports, administrative policies, and presentations through independent research & analysis, data collection, policy consideration, and coordination with internal & external components. I fostered professional, collaborative, highly effective partnerships & working relationships across the office and with key external stakeholders.

Executive & personal assistant to the NDU President & Senior Vice President. As the central point of contact for issues pertaining to NDU Front Office operations, I provided a full range of executive-level support for administrative/logistic/technical matters for General Officers, Ambassadors, civilian executives, other senior NDU officials.As a liaison between NDU Front Office and university faculty and staff I facilitated communication, policy coordination, data collection, and execution of reporting requirements for the university, DoD agencies and other governmental entities, and prominent foreign national, academic, and industry officials.

Defense Department civilian in strategic studies think tank specializing in improving the effectiveness of irregular warfare operations; promoting interplay among the special operations, conventional forces, intelligence, and interagency communities; and incorporating operational and strategic assessments into strategic planning, doctrine, concepts, training, and professional military education. -Primary point of contact for program and policy support to the Center for Complex Operations (CCO).-Principal adviser the CCO Director and Deputy Director in areas of budget execution, personnel policies and management, policy research, document control, logistics, and all related administrative matters.-Established & implemented the structure/timing/composition of CCO's research/lessons learned initiatives/programs & policies through coordination/analysis of monetary/administrative/logistics/facilities activities.

Executive assistant to Medical Center CEO/Department Head staff.Business manager for 104-bed Veterans Administration (VA)/Department of Defense (DoD) medical center; assisted 1.2K staff in provision of medical services for 43K beneficiaries to influence changes in methods and procedures.Senior personnel manager; exercised general supervision of 320 staff; advised/assisted commander in personnel issues, conflict resolution, maintenance of discipline, standards enforcement, and policy interpretation.
