I was responsible for both the Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting teams within the corporate centre, responsible for all aspects of external financial reporting for the Group. Responsibilities included:- Supervision of external quarterly results announcements compliant with IAS34 and EU directives.- Supervision of the Group Annual Report and Accounts.- Arranging IFRS training for the global finance community.- Preparation of papers to the GEC and Audit Committee on significant accounting matters.- Lead on significant accounting judgements, including impairments and lease assessments..- Supervising the preparation and filing of circa 60 UK statutory entity accounts under UK GAAP.- Supervise preparation of the Group and Accounting Manual and controls for compliance.- Represent the Group at industry forums such as OIAC and the 100 Group.- Manage the relationship with the external auditors on accounting and reporting matters.- Business partner to Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations and Investment Appraisal on accounting.- Supervise the implementation of new accounting standards.- Respond to IASB invitations to comment on behalf of the Group.

I was responsible for the Technical Accounting function for the Group, providing a centre of excellence for the Group and accounting and compliance issues. Responsibilities included:- Developing the Group Accounting Manual- Providing technical accounting and interpretations to the finance community.- Advise senior management on the accounting implications of major transactions.- Implementation of new accounting standards and interpretations.- Co-ordination of impairment and decommisioning processes.
