Manage construction and quality control on construction projects. As part of the management team, I apply my knowledge and experience in training those that work for us so that every project is successful, completed on time, and turns a profit.

I supervise a team of Inspectors, Senior Inspectors, and Major Construction Project Inspectors in performing daily inspections of water works and building projects. I supervise the Team in the monitoring and conducting of test, assess construction performance and record construction activities to ensure compliance with project documents and local jurisdiction requirements including new and existing building remodels and construction and repair. We have been involved in the rehabilitation and replacement of water mains by using cured in place pipe and/or pipeline replacement. These types of projects require more in depth communication and discussions by the Supervisor and project Inspector with the internal and external customers because of their uniqueness. The projects we have done the past several years have to do with total facility replacement of the aging water infrastructure we have. We have an aging system and the need now is to keep up with the system’s ability and reliability to deliver safe drinking water to our customers. I visit project sites daily to support the Inspectors and review their work. I review and submit monthly pay estimates by the established deadline. Review project schedules to ensure that the assigned projects are being completed and milestones are achieved at the times/dates shown. Evaluate and report recommendations for new products to be used in the field. Handle special assignments, respond and handle appropriate request from customers and co-workers and direct request to appropriate areas for action. Recruit for new Division personnel for vacant positions. I perform design reviews from a constructability stand point so we can put a project out to bid with the expectation of zero change orders.

I volunteered for this position since the economy went bad and the District was looking for a Supervisor to fill in until things got turned around. This was a great experience for me since it is the Maintenance Department that we in Construction would pass completed projects off to. This experience has helped me in doing better design reviews and applying what I experienced in the Maintenance Department as a Supervisor to the Design and Construction work we do in the Engineering and Construction Department
