Production Shift Manager

The role of Production Shift Manager has enabled me to use all of my skills gained, to run each department within the factory. I have full responsibility for ensuring every department achieves its daily production targets, all within budget. I have responsibility for daily briefings with all department supervisors to give clear instructions and plans, for the days and weeks ahead. I use these daily briefings as a feedback forum for the supervisors to give their own feedback, so we can as a team always look forward to get the best results possible. By leading by example and developing my team I ensured that we consistently hit our targets and maximised production profitability. I am also responsible for Staffing plans and budgets, and the allocation of temporary Labour as and where necessary. I also have to sign off and agree any new product labour costing’s, to ensure production KPI’s are met. I attend monthly senior Management operation meetings; to discuss all production related matters, and all Management related matters for the on-going growth and development of the company. This also means that I worked closely with all department heads in all matters relating to production operations. I have gained a great understanding of the requirements for BRC accreditation, which we gain annually. I also have input into works committee related issues, and also the Steering group of the Health and Safety Committee. This role has given me experience in coaching people from Supervisors to Operatives, and I feel like I can give clear instructions, constructive feedback and direction. I thrive on my management of people skills, and am most confident in this area. I also have a wealth of knowledge in working closely with the company HR Manager, and the daily input into this area of work.

Mar 2008 - May 2013

Production Coordinator

This role was very versatile, and I was both office and factory based. After completing several comprehensive courses for Training and Health and Safety I was responsible for moving forward the companies systems by completing the following: Creating, Reviewing, updating Risk Assessments.Creating company Health and Safety Policy.Processing Accident Data. Analysis for future workplace improvements.Designing Safe Systems of work and implementing.Designing Manual Handling Training documentation, and Training out to employees.Completing Manual Handling assessments.System Audits for Health and Safety both internally, and via external bodies. The results I achieved helped to reduce the company’s annual public liability insurance renewal by 25% in just one year. As well as working on Health and Safety tasks I was also responsible for organising Temporary Labour for the factory every week dealing with recruitment agencies, and also completing inductions for all temporary labour and collating all corresponding records. I had responsibility for the upkeep and administration of the time management system to ensure invoices for agencies were paid on time, and that all data was accurate. This enabled me to work alongside the company HR Manager, attending meetings with external labour suppliers. I also assisted with employee Occupational Health analysis and recommendations. On top of this I was responsible for the co-ordination of all full time employees Training and the up keep of all relevant documents and Training Matrices. This also meant I had an input into annual employee appraisals, as part of on-going Training needs analysis, and putting in place time scales for additional Training for individuals. I enjoyed the versatility of this role and all of the achievements that came with it.

Oct 2003 - Mar 2008

I started the role of Production Supervisor and was the head of around 12 operatives. My role was to ensure that all production deadlines were met on time, whilst following all company procedures. This role greatly enhanced my interaction with dealing with people at management level to discuss daily/weekly targets. I was also tasked with project work by management and created an entire training pack for every individual job that operatives were involved in doing.
