Well, I made it, one of the biggest chapters so far in life’s journey. I must acknowledge my wife and our two great young people who were my support, my motivation and my reason for keeping on!I have had the privilege to have had a career spanning the globe and creating life long friendships with people, along with delivering some pretty cool work too! I believe I had one of the best career starts working for IBM in the early 80’s which was my career home for over 22 years!!With 46 years of engineering, IT and many facets of project management under my belt I could wax lyrical for hours but I will just round out this cheerio with one of my key learnings from this journey:“A project manager without humility, compassion and comprehension will be lost”Gary A Collins, 2024PS. Led the development and delivery of the programme of work for the Midland eSPACE Regional Clinical Workstation Project.Gary took the Regional Clinical Workstation Project from inception through to design completion phase including a significant change in scope in July 2015. The project was challenging with a constantly changing/growing team, a highly demanding customer, and often challenging governance. Gary maintained strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and prepared the project to move to the delivery phase.In final quarter 2015 Gary lead a significant infrastructure rationalisation project that consolidated over 40 servers on a shared infrastructure and enabled the timely completion of a CISCO hardware and support contract. A number of the DHB’s across the midland region were dependent on the infrastructure for both development and production environments. Gary worked with the regional technical and change teams to complete the server decommissioning with no impact to services. The project was delivered on time and under budget and enabled the planned exit from the CISCO contract.Gary recently led the deployment of a shared cloud establishment to support a new environment underpinning the regional clinical programme of work for the Midland DHBs.

Taken on to bring strong Programme Management approach and methods to both the Unisys Project Team and the MAF Information Management group. Key focus was leading a broad programme of work to reintegrate the Ministry of Fisheries with MAF. The programme of work included business process reengineering, application integration, infrastructure rationalisation and service delivery improvements to ensure business objectives were met. Responsibilities included implementation of strong programme governance supported by focussed client and internal reporting.

Drove strategic change in the areas of Business Service Management by the introduction of best practice service management disciplines through the adoption of ITIL and ISO20000. Built a significant business partner relationship with BMC, including the investment in the tools, technology and process provided by BMC. Led and directed the team to build a programme of work to enable delivery to clients of services based on best practice and underpinned by the BMC Business Service Management model. Development of complimentary strategic industry partnerships in security and hosting.
