A Canadian-based global investment management firm with a history dating back to 1957. The company serves retail, high net worth and institutional investors and has operations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Asia. Reporting to the President, was recruited in 2005 when AGF determined its desire to enter the institutional business. At the time of hire, AGF had no recognizable institutional brand or infrastructure. Successfully built and ran the Institutional business on a global basis with offices in Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Hong Kong, Beijing and Dublin. By 2010 the AGF institutional business represented $19 billion and had seen significant growth during the previous three years despite unprecedented market conditions.• Review and amendment of portfolio management team structures and processes, and creation of institutional vehicles• Design & implementation of a global Consultant Program covering 54 consulting houses worldwide and approximately 1400 individual contacts• Constructed a multi-product, multi-style institutional product platform, introduced Institutional Product Management & Development, and designed and implemented a global Database & Content Management capability• Employment of Casey Quirk for highly successful global market segmentation exercises• Production of detailed regional sales & marketing plans• Controlled expansion into new markets – U.S., EMEA, Asia Pacific – and subsequent opening of institutional offices in Boston, Dublin and Hong Kong• Acquisition of Highstreet Asset Management• Fiscal 2009 saw approximately $4 billion of net new sales added with strong momentum carrying into fiscal 2010.• Each of the four regions (Canada, USA, EMEA and Asia Pacific) had a stable client base and positive sales momentum.
