I was media manager for the national governing body of rugby league in Wales and was responsible for the development of PR strategies for the Welsh national team and representative sides across various age groups.My main achievement was to be the PR event manager of the Wales v England Test match which involved multiple projects such as press conferences, media releases and liaising with national newspapers, radio and TV. My work was recognised by a number of journalists and photographers who said 'it is the best organised match for media I have ever been to'.

I was seconded to work as a sub editor and writer on the South Wales Argus when they were short staffed but, after a few weeks, I was asked to help with running the sportsdesk of one of Wales' leading evening (as it was then) newspapers. Subsequently, I ran the sportsdesk on many occasions which included working with a team of two reporters to produce a 13 page sports supplement from scratch to finished product within a single working day.
