During my time at ADP, I have been directing and designing world class user experience for the suite of Small Business HCM (Human Capital Management) products within the SBS (Small Business Services) division of ADP. With my experience of the full development lifecycle I was integral to ensuring UX became a first class citizen of that process. Specialising in UX management, UX design, usability testing, user research, prototyping and wire framing in an agile/scrum environment. Experienced in large, collaborative multi stakeholder projects with multi national teams.Tools include: Figma, Axure RP, Photoshop , Sketch, InVision and iRise.During my time at ADP I have helped to build and develop RUN (SBS payroll product) from inception at zero income to currently turning over 1 billion dollars a year and serving now close to 750,000 small business clients in the USA (at the point of leaving). Becoming more aware of the need to focus on User Experience, my role transitioned from solely application development and I formed a multi national UX team of highly talented individuals that would sit across all products within the SBS division (Retirement Services, Insurance Services, RUN, HR411 and the newly created Accountant Connect), focusing on consistency, quality and that products were designed with a user centred focus. During this time I also qualified as a Certified Usability Analyst with HFI (world leading UX organisation) with a test score of 89% and received a patent, number 9,442,628 for my work on the RUN Mobile Payroll platform.Early in this period, along with my directing responsibilities. As a landlord myself, I struggled to find a letting agency that treated tenants like individuals and that provided true value for money for landlords. Therefore, along with my wife, I decided to start up my own agency.Through an ethos of providing clients with an experience above and beyond what was available in Peterborough at the time, I built Bee Lettings up to a size that could no longer be facilitated as a "home business" and had to make the decision to expand. To this end we bought an office in Peterborough city centre and by the time I sold the company in October 2016, was employing 4 staff and 1 manager who also became my business partner, serving over 450 tenancies across the Peterborough area.I am very proud of my achievements in creating Bee Lettings and saw it grow from a start up to become the leading provider of rooms and shared houses (HMO's) for professionals in Peterborough by the time I sold it to concentrate more on my career as a UX specialist.I always strived to innovate and provide tenants and landlords alike with a unique experience which is why our reputation was so highly regarded in the city. A start up company always needs to provide a USP to the market and I feel many large corporates often forget this which is why I strive to apply my entrepreneurial spirit to all my work regardless of whether it is in property or in user centred design.

In 2007 I was promoted to Application Development Manager and subsequently Director and my role changed from one predominantly based around the architecture to one more focused on the front end user interface. We began to move away from a meta data based architecture for creating our front end pages and more towards ASP.Net custom pages based around a number of iterations of technologies such as Master Pages/Templates. This created an opportunity to create processes that would ensure consistency across the product. To this point I formed a UI application team along with UI guidelines that would enable dev and qa alike to efficiently create the front end and deliver a consistent and quality experience to our client base.During this time period, we adopted agile project management methodologies and I studied as a SCRUM master and undertook a number of project management roles for major projects as part of my role as Application Development Manager.During my time in this role, I oversaw projects such as:- 2 complete redesigns and rewrites of our front end- RUN Mobile- A branding technology that allowed major banks in the US to sell our product, branded as their own- And a number of value add projects such as ADP Check, HR411 (HR compliance software) and PaybyPay. I am also very proud to have helped my team win two President Awards for outstanding contributions to the product.To facilitate many of these products, my team was now spread across three continents, in India, the UK and the USA. Achieving agility in the development life cycle across disparate time zones was challenging and I helped create a number of processes to facilitate this.

In 2003, ADP took the strategic decision to leverage the existing architecture developed for TotalChoice and create a UK product (Freedom). To this end, the development department was structured into two development teams and an architecture team (soon to be split into two categories: UI and Back End). Due to my experience of the UI frameworks I was promoted to lead the UI architecture team, helping to refactor the code to create a core code base that would serve both products.In 2004, ADP entered into a business deal with Microsoft to provide Microsoft with a Payroll product that integrated within a new offering of Microsoft Office, to be named Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting. The goal was to provide seamless integration from a client experience between the accounting and payroll pieces of functionality.A goal to create an application code base that was 70% identical to TotalChoice ensured reusability of code and constraints from Microsoft that the UI should be identical to their very strict guidelines created a product that could not be differentiated from Microsoft Office, even though the application was running through an embedded browser window within Office.This product was released to Beta in 2005 and I was proud to receive an award for Recognition of Outstanding Cooperation with Microsoft.Unfortunately Microsoft underestimated the dominance of QuickBooks and this version of Microsoft Office was not successful.Utilising the architecture that we had created for Office, we created an ADP branded Small Business product which is now known as RUN. More details of this can be found within my latest experience at ADP in my current role.Late in this role, I travelled to India to help set up the first development team for our business unit. This also included travel for the associates in India to the UK for training, of which I created and facilitated.

Joining Business Management Software (soon to be acquired by ADP in June 2000) as a middle tier developer specialising in Microsoft Transaction Server (later known as COM+), I soon transitioned from this role into my true passion of front end, user interface development.Business Management Software was about to begin development of a new product (TotalChoice) based on an existing database and back end validation object suite. Once transitioned to front end development I took on the project of UI frameworks and was responsible for the creation of a UI screen painting tool that would take meta data to create a consistent UI experience for the user. This VB6 tool and classes greatly increased the speed at which our front end could be developed, enabling us to get to market in just over a year. Throughout this role I exceeded my role expectations, helping to develop a robust and multi browser enabled client side framework and spent many international trips training development teams to use the product tools that I had developed.In 2003 I was promoted to UI Frameworks Team Leader.

Hyder was a utility company responsible for Welsh Water.Predominantly brought in to help design and build pipe telemetry software to detect leaks in the extensive pipe network throughout Wales due to my experience of Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS - later renamed to COM+). As I had been using MTS since Beta, at the time I was at the forefront of this technology.During this time I not only helped design and create the back end MTS objects, but also wrote an automated code generator to examine the schema and create CRUD objects, saving weeks of development.The contract only ended when Hyder started to suffer financial problems, leading to the discontinuation of all contractors across the company.
