My goal is to make stuff work and then share it with others. Since 1995, I have been working primarily on architecture and development of web applications and APIs. I'm a developer first, architect second: no PowerPoint engineering here (though I do like PowerPoint too!). I have extensive experience with AWS and Azure network and system designs.I also love doing presentations: keynotes, high-level summaries, webinars, or in-depth workshops. As of August 2017, I've done over 450 public presentations of 45 minutes or more. My ideal job would be 50% proposing and coding new awesome prototype functionality, and 50% talking about it to both experts and novices. I am a certified public speaking and presentation coach, specializing in storytelling. I enjoy other aspects of communication, too - such as writing (e.g. FAQs, guerrilla/content marketing) and being the public face of a system from the technical side.I also enjoy working as a team leader (official or otherwise), giving tasks to other developers and helping them with solutions. I feel it is one of my duties to help younger developers grow both in their positions and as employees and people. I am a certified scrum-master and actually enjoy setting up lightweight processes that help everybody's productivity. I am also almost fluent in Spanish and Esperanto and learning Italian and Hawaiian.Technical Specialties: Cloud architecture, APIs, user interfaces, web app development, database, network libraries and protocols, application architecture, device drivers, operating systems, computer security, internationalization, digital design, human factors simulation.Communication Specialties: Storytelling, Keynote speeches, Webinars, Communication of Technical Material.Hobbies: I am a Distinguished Toastmaster, past Division E Director, District 29 of Toastmasters International and Past President of the Loudoun Toastmasters Club. I am a volunteer pastor, frequently gigging musician, and storyteller.
