Soon after becoming an Executive Entrepreneur consultant for Innovate Washington the CEO asked me to help out by acting as the Director of the Accelerator Services Group. We have now used the principles of agile to help the team develop new processes and tools for meeting the mission of Innovate Washington. "Making Washington the best place to develop innovative ideas and launch innovative companies".We expect to hire a permanent Director by June 2012. and I will return to my consulting position as an Executive Entrepreneur.

In 2006, Mr. Morgan was asked by PNNL’s Chief Research Officer to develop a new program for the Laboratory to help accelerate the impact of our basic Science Initiatives, based on agile principles and methodologies This included establishment of a program to develop a coaching/training to accelerate the delivery of valuable results from the Laboratories internal research investment initiatives. The objective of this challenge was to improve the laboratories return on investment. (~$50M a year for internally funded research initiatives). The results four years later are over 40 staff trained in Scrum and numerous projects benefitting from using the principles of Scrum. Mr Morgan is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), as well as a Certified Product Owner (CPO) and experienced Scum Coach. Upon his return to PNNL in 1998, Mr. Morgan became the Commercialization Manager (CM) for the National Security Directorate, responsible for the capture and protection of basic intellectual property that resulted from projects ensuring the mission of PNNL government sponsors for saving American lives. By 2006 his IP portfolio included over 1200 invention reports and numerous notable license deployments including: o 40 inventions in the field of RF tags (RFID) constituted the core technology for then startup and now publicly traded Alien Technology in Morgan Hill, CA.o Seminal portfolio of millimeter wave imaging science part of the foundation of Safeview which was acquired after 3 years by L3 Communications in 2004. This is the third largest windfall transaction for Battelle stimulated a second wave of research funding to PNNL for Standoff Detectiono Half dozen pieces of visual analytics technologies collectively called Starlight to a start-up company named Future Point Systems. o Other technologies in electronics, nano science, bio technology, information technologies, acoustics, etc.

In 1995 while employed at PNNL, Mr. Morgan was asked to help found a company based in Richland, WA which had patented through transmission acoustic imaging technology and needed help with market focus, financing and product development. Mr. Morgan served as the CEO from inception until 1998 when the company successfully raised venture investment and recruited a seasoned Medical Imaging executive. During Mr. Morgan’s tenure as acting CEO, the company successfully developed several prototype breast imaging machines using holographic ultrasound technology and managed clinical trials through FDA approval. In 1999 the company was financed to commence manufacturing and in 2007 won the Frost & Sullivan Ultrasound Innovation Award.

As the co-founder of a Development Stage Enterprise (Technology Development Associates, Inc.), from 1983 to 1989, Mr. Morgan was responsible for the development and successful deployment of several product innovations into the wireless device marketplace. These included the first hand held electronic air pressure gauges, for which he set-up manufacturing in Europe and marketing through Sharper Image; and the world’s first wireless LAN, including the patenting of the routing algorithms, and the design and manufacturing of the hardware and software NIC card for the Novell OS. After the worldwide introduction at Comdex in 1987 we sold the product rights to NCR.

As a named inventor and co-founder of a company in 1980, Mr. Morgan lead operations and the engineering team which developed the DataLine Systems, Inc., on-line bank teller machine which enabled the customer banks to consummate transactions at the teller window, thus reducing the banks “proof costs” while greatly reducing fraud, identity errors and costs. After three years of successful development and installations at five major Banks, the company was sold to the largest commercial bank holding company in New Jersey.

Reporting directly to the president of Keytronic as Director, Systems Development was responsible for the coordination of non-keyboard products into Keytronic manufacturing. Evaluation and liaison management of four new affiliated companies, in which Keytronic would act as manufacturing partner and investor. Started my career with Keytronic as Director, OCR Engineering and directed the activities of 35 engineering people and solved performance problems of the product. Developed the concept and development of a product (patented miniature OCR reader) for point of sale locations.With support and investment of KeyTronics CEO - Mr. Morgan Co Founded DataLine Systems using the miniature OCR reader from KeyTronics.

As VP of Engineering, combined the computer development functions and the other engineering functions into one integrated department. Grew the engineering department into one of the leading technical groups in the Inland Northwest with over 60 people. Responsible for many new product developments as well as helping Sales and Marketing with these highly complex custom jobs. Landmark achievements include development and installation of the world’s first full gray scale video replay scoreboard system (Pontiac Stadium, MI) and the first full color display (Times Square, NY). During this period, company became the worlds largest electronic information display company, with a lease portfolio of over $70 million and annual revenues exceeding $55 million a year.

As a member of the Materials Test Reactor (MTR) computer group, was responsible for developing on-line reactor control systems and real-time computerized experiments. Designed the interfaces for Pulse Height Analyzers, Nuclear Power Spectra measurements and various peripheral devices. Was involved with the specification writing, purchasing, and installation of all mini-computer systems for the National Reactor Testing Site.

As a member of the Electronics Engineering Dept., was member of the support team for the Analytical Chemistry Division, designed and built interfaces and controllers which automated the chemistry apparatus and implemented on line information management to the Octopus SuperComputer Facility. Was member of the design team developing the hardware pagination system for the PDP-10 front end of the LLNL Octopus SuperComputer. Crystal X-ray Diffractometers interfaced to the DEC computers and the development of a complete Time Sharing software system for the computer.

Responsible for the design and development of a new error correcting code for use in a pipe line control system. Developed a custom designed 17 bit error correcting code which would correct for 5 bit burst errors. Participated in the rotational training program and worked on the advanced message switching system design. Attended Columbia University on the Bell graduate study program and obtained graduate degree in Computer Architecture and Information Systems.
