Assembled precision and structural aircraft components and sub-assemblies. These sub-assemblies were later incorporated in larger assemblies that were subsequently installed on the airplane. Additional Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities included: • Locate work area using drawings which specifies airplane number, section number, and three-point location. • Obtained and verified kitted detail parts, standards, and assemblies were issued correctly. • Ensured that parts issued were effective for the airplane and were free of visible defects. • Set up assembly tools per tooling instructions or drawing. • Operated mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. tiger and snorkel lifts), as required, to locate parts/assemblies into position or to perform assembly work. • Checked for good edge margins and alignment. Shimmed and/or trimmed parts as required. • Located, drill pilot holes using drill motor and proper size drill bit(s). Drilled, reamed full size holes in parts/assemblies, in proper sequence and to correct size using drill motor. • Set countersinking tools to proper depth as required. • Disassembled parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files to prepare for installation of fasteners. • Used solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly. • Applied sealant, alodine, primer, adhesives and special finishes. • Applied permanent or temporary part mark and protective material to assemblies for preparation of shipment. • Handled and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner. • Determined and obtain correct type and size fasteners. Cold work holes to prepare for close tolerance fastener installation. • Applied liquid nitrogen to facilitate installation of bushings. • Installed fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools. • Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing.
