Insurance executive with 20+ years experience in all aspects of personal insurance including Underwriting, Product Management, Operations, Catastrophe Management, Reinsurance, Risk Modeling and Property Insurance to Value.In his tenure at Safeco Gary held leadership roles in underwriting and product management. His initial years were in field positions working with independent insurance agents, developing underwriting talent and with profit and loss responsibility for key states. Later, he joined the Home Office staff eventually assuming responsible for property lines countrywide and becoming intimately involved in corporate reinsurance and catastrophe modeling. He was directly involved in the development of Safeco’s initial segmentation models in 2000 and held various positions within the product management team until 2013. Gary was instrumental in implementing key strategic initiatives such as the renewal questionnaire, stand alone earthquake policy, segmentation modeling, property loss coding and credit scoring efforts. In his roles Gary was a key business partner to IT as well as working with distribution, claims, underwriting, finance, billing and legal in product operations.
