Fundamentally, both Engineers and Accountants ask the same question, but for two very different reasons. An engineer asks “can I build this?” in relation to whether the project is technically feasible, given constraints like materials, physical constraints, and safety considerations. Accountants also ask the question of “can I build this,” however their work places an emphasis on financial obligations and profitability. My interest in being able to answer this fundamental question from both viewpoints is what caused me to study both Mechanical Engineering (my major) and Accountancy (one of my minors). Although one question demands two different types of answers, both require meticulous attention to detail and advanced analytic skills. By having multiple educational backgrounds, I can use my unique and versatile mindset to solve complex problems in engineering. As an Assistant Project Manager at University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors, I am able to combine my diverse knowledge to effectively help run large-scale commercial projects in the San Diego area.
