I'm an award-winning digital curator, product manager, and writer. I recently joined the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art as Director, Digital Interpretation. I also relaunched the California African American Museum's web presence and was part of the team that opened the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. In addition to other awards, two digital experiences I created for the Academy Museum were recognized with Webby Award wins, and I was principal investigator on a project there that received a $300K grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 2023. Before embarking on my current adventure in museums, I helped create or reinvent some of the most important editorial and community products in the early African American digital space. I launched AOL Black Voices (#2 in the African American space on my watch), relaunched Henry Louis Gates, Jr.'s Africana.com (the leading black commentary and opinion site after relaunch), and was BlackPlanet.com's inaugural general manager and top editor (#1 in all US-based ethnic media online during my tenure). In the public media space, I reimagined KCET and LinkTV's digital platforms and launched both networks' streaming video portals. More recently, I rebuilt the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism's family of websites. My byline has appeared in venues ranging from Artforum to Bidoun, from Interview to The Root. I contributed to The Village Voice’s film section for over a decade and was Vibe Magazine’s first film critic. I was once described in the New York Times as "hard to categorize."
