Dedicated media technologist with 40+ years diversified broadcast, live/post production and engineering operations management experience, specializing in workflow efficiency, content transmission and delivery, quality control, and enterprise budget management.Began broadcast career in 1975 at WTVK-TV, then the CBS affiliate in Knoxville, TN. In Sept. 1975, moved to WBIR-TV to serve as a Production Assistant. Transferred to the Engineering Department, Oct.1976. Transitioned to the News Department and advanced as photographer, Chief Photographer, and Technical Operations Manager. Promoted to Assistant Chief Engineer in 1998 and then to Chief Engineer in 2000. Engineering duties expanded in 2011 when promoted to Regional Director of Technology for Gannett. In Feb. 2015, relocated to WXIA-TV in Atlanta as Regional Director of Technology for TEGNA Media. Continue to excel in a technical environment of transition from traditional broadcast linear concepts to next-gen multi-platform designs employing video servers, cloud storage, and multiple HD compression formats.Project management and implementation of new technologies are primary strengths. Manage and develop multiple vendor relationships, including “proof of concept” feasibility studies.Regional duties include technical oversight of multiple stations including the Networks of 11Alive, WXIA/WATL-TV, comprised of My Network TV, Weather Nation TV, The Justice Network, Bounce TV, and Antenna TV. Regional station responsibility includes WFMY-TV, WBIR-TV, WLTX-TV, and WMAZ-TV. Most recently, responsible for The Justice Network technical implementation across 22 TEGNA Media broadcast properties. Coordinated all technology purchases, design reviews, capital budget, equipment delivery and integration, and broadcast launch. The project scope included satellite delivery coordination, content distribution, workflow management, and broadcast distribution via multi-cast.
