During my tenure at Ukhamba Coatings, I came across a lot of challenges and opportunities that required me to constantly learn and grow as an entrepreneur. One of the ways I did this was by reading extensively on topics related to business management, marketing, sales, and leadership.Over the years, I had accumulated a vast collection of books that I believed could be valuable to other entrepreneurs who were looking to learn and grow their businesses. So, I decided to create a website where I could share my book recommendations and insights with others.I spent countless hours curating the list of books on my website, ensuring that each one met the criteria of being targeted at entrepreneurs and not just academics. However, despite my efforts, the website failed to gain traction, and I eventually had to shut it down.Despite the disappointment of the failed website, the experience taught me a valuable lesson: that even with the best intentions and efforts, not everyone is willing to invest their time and energy into learning and growth.During this time, I also had the opportunity to travel to Ethiopia to present on Sales and Marketing in the 21st Century with Rodger Harrop. As a result of their efforts, the company became a leading player in its field in just five years, capturing 91% of the market share in one of South Africa's provinces, namely Kwazulu Natal.
