CurrentPrior to HY-TEK Bio’s engagement, the exhaust from the methane fueled generators was vented into the local atmosphere along with the CO2 and other Greenhouse Gas emissions produced from the burning methane. Methane produces 40% CO2 when burned compared to coal’s output of 12%, oil’s 9% and natural gas’ 6% CO2.HY-TEK Bio Facility HY-TEK Bio installed its technology in a building adjacent to the power plant, and is capturing a percentage of the exhaust gas from the generators. The exhaust gas is injected into their closed bio reactors full of algae which consumes the CO2 and other Greenhouse Gases from the exhaust gas, converting it to high quality oxygen and marketable algae by-products - leaving little to no emissions to be vented into the local atmosphere… CLEAN ENERGY! HY-TEK Bio has developed a patent-pending closed bio reactor that is light and inexpensive and enhances the growth of a particular strain of algae such that it consumes the CO2 and other Greenhouse Gas emissions at an extremely high rate per volume of algae. The future of clean energy starts here!The Back River Waste Water Treatment Plant receives all of the municipal waste from Baltimore City and the surrounding area. The waste is chemically processed into solid waste, liquid and methane gas. The methane gas is collected in the large collection tanks, filtered, and then used as fuel to run three generators that produce up to 3 megawatts of electric power. That power is used to run the waste water treatment plant facilities.
